Somebody’s Sunshine was developed in 2022 as a way to channel energy following the passing of Grace Fehan. Grace, a courageous and vibrant young woman, tragically lost her life in a car accident at the age of 27 while residing in Italy in 2022. Her family aspired to honor her spirit by enabling others to experience the world as Grace did.
Grace grew up in Midlothian and Powhatan County, Virginia. She attended St.Edward-Epiphany Catholic school from Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade. She then graduated from Powhatan County High School. Grace played travel soccer both for FC Richmond and Richmond Strikers. Though being competitive was a huge drive for Grace to play travel soccer, she also loved traveling to other places to play.
Grace loved to GO and SEE and DO. She traveled to many places within the US and also visited many international locations. She worked as an au pair in Italy and fell in love with the country and also the man who would become her husband. She had many plans to see more of the world. Grace would encourage you to get out and connect with the larger world.
The concept of Somebody’s Sunshine was born as a means to inspire young individuals to embrace courage, venture beyond their familiar surroundings, and forge connections with the wider world. One of Grace’s favorite sayings was “Be Somebody who makes everyone feel like Somebody.” We, as an organization, want to be the sunshine for others and to share Grace’s light. To continue Grace’s adventurous spirit, Somebody’s Sunshine will award 2-3 scholarships of $3000 (based on available annual funding) per year to support and promote international educational experiences for students.
Somebody’s Sunshine is a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization (Tax ID 93-4380654).
